About me
2002:
Completed German Abitur at the Gottfried-Leibniz-Gymnasium in Chemnitz,
after having learned English for ten years, French for six and Russian
for five years.
2002-2008:
Studies at the Institute
for Applied Linguistics and Translatology (Leipzig University),
reading translation.
Majors: English and Spanish, Minor (two semesters from 2002-2003): Informatics; complementary subjects: Mechanical
Engineering and Civil Engineering.
2004/2005:
Studies at Universidad de
Granada (winter term) and Dublin City University (summer term) under the
ERASMUS programme.
Attendance of courses in translation, regional and cultural studies.
2007:
Two-month internship at the international law office Fernando
Scornik Gerstein
in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, in order to gain subject-specific
knowledge in law.
2008:
Graduation as "Diplom-Übersetzerin in den Sprachen Englisch
und Spanisch (Graduate Translator for English and Spanish).
Thesis on the German dubbed version of the movie trilogy 'The Lord of
the Rings', mark: 1.5 (very good).
Freelance translator since August 2006:
Working regularly for several agencies from all over the world as a
freelance translator, proofreader, editor and transcriber.
Since March 2009 - Member of German Translators Association (BDUE).
In May 2009 I have been sworn in as a translator for English and Spanish. I also attended a workshop on translating legal documents.
In June 2009 I attended a three-week training at Voice & Script International in Berlin, learning how to create subtitles and voice-over scripts.
